The Aneros Tempo is marketed by the company as a unisex anal probe. Think of it as an anal dildo, but probably the best one that you will ever use. The stunning attention to detail and the use of quality materials really elevates this to a whole new level.
Having tried all of Aneros prostate massagers, I was inclined to try something new, and the Aneros Tempo seemed as good a bet as any. Here are my thoughts about the Tempo.

My Full Aneros Tempo Review
It wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to call the Aneros Tempo a “work of art.” It’s just that beautiful. Everything, from the box to the probe has been thought out to perfection. The Tempo is several notches above the Peridise, by all means.
Let’s get into my review.
The Box – First Impressions Last
The Aneros Tempo’s box is completely different from the other retail boxes in which other Aneros massagers are shipped. First of all, it’s horizontal. While it has the same wave-like pattern like most Aneros massagers, this one is very easy to remove.
It has a “unisex pleasure” label on top, which makes it easy for people who don’t know much about Aneros’ products to determine which one they want. Simply put, the box makes you think as if you are buying an expensive piece of jewelry.
Think of it as a gorgeous accessory designed for your butt. As soon as you remove the outer covering, the inside begins to seem familiar. It’s the same black box with a magnetic clasp.
Open that up, and the Tempo is placed snugly inside. It’s placed on a red satin lining… and nothing else. You won’t find any other things like toy cleaner or lube inside.
Even though most toys nowadays come with cleaners or other things, Aneros has chosen to stick to its guns, and created a pretty decent anal stimulation device.
Build Quality – Steel Perfection
What can I say? This thing is made from medical-grade stainless steel, and it feels just so good. The build quality of the Aneros Tempo is simply unparalleled, and you will be hard-pressed to find a better-looking sex toy than this.
It weighs around 8 oz (roughly half a pound!), so you will feel the heft when it is inside. Think of it as a well-crafted lump of metal between your ass cheeks.
However, this is no ordinary piece of metal.
The company has done extensive research on the design and shape of the Aneros Tempo, and it shows.
Just one important thing: stainless steel contains a bit of nickel, so if you have difficulty – or have an allergic reaction to – products containing Nickel, it might be a wise idea to avoid this.
Let me summarize my thoughts in the following few pointers:
- It’s a fraction wider than your index finger
- Around 3.5 inches is insertable
- Gorgeous, polished finish
- Three anal knobs of varying sizes
What’s This Product Designed For?
Let’s get this out of the way: this product is not a prostate massager. Aneros markets it as an anal stimulator, so it has more similarities with the Aneros Peridise than the Progasm.
What does this mean? The Tempo is an anal sex toy that is designed to help you stimulate the sphincter muscles.
Essentially, when you insert the first knob in your ass, the rest of it will go all the way until it hits your P-spot (if you’re a man using this). Then, as your muscles relax, they automatically push the Tempo out.
It reaches the last knob, and is sucked back in. The Tempo continues to stimulate your muscles this way, and can be used by both men and women.
This isn’t designed for prostate orgasms, but that doesn’t mean that it won’t stimulate your P-spot. It will, just not to the point where you’ll get to experience the Super O. At least, not in my experience.
In fact, you’ll receive a pretty detailed instruction manual with the Tempo too on how to use it.
Tips for Playing Around with Your Anal Region
Toys like the Aneros Tempo or any of the company’s prostate massagers feel great, but you need to understand how to use them properly. I have seen way too many people make mistakes when using such toys, so here are a few tips:
Prioritize Hygiene Above All Else: A water enema might be a fantastic idea before you decide to poke about in places where the sun don’t shine. Rinsing out the rectum is great and will give you the peace of mind you need before you get started.
Never Share the Same Toy: As close as you and your partner might be, it’s just never a wise move to share the same sex toy like the Tempo. Always buy two if the two of you are going to engage in anal play together.
Put on a Condom: Heck, if you want to exercise safer sex options, it’s best to put on a condom on the Tempo before you insert it in. Some people are not satisfied with cleaning the product, so a condom is just a great idea.
Wear Gloves: Sometimes, I prefer wearing gloves before I start with anal play. Not only does this keep my hands clean, but they also smooth areas that might feel rough on my hands. Latex gloves are simply the best choice.
My Journaled Experience
This is what you are here for. What do I think about the Aneros Tempo? If I have to sum up my review in one word, I would just say it feels… different.
The Tempo is unlike any Aneros toy I have ever used, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. First of all, let me tell you that I have had the Tempo for more than six weeks now, and in this period, I have used it for about 15 different sessions.
I tried it with a partner and solo, both.
The Aneros Tempo is not designed for amateurs. After having spent a considerable amount of time with it, I have a few things that I would like to share with you.
First of all, the Tempo is best enjoyed while lying on your back. You need to lube up your ass, and the Tempo before inserting it in. However, because of the stainless steel, you will be using a fraction of the lube that you would on other toys.
You can decide to lift up your knees to your chest, or just keep them open.
Don’t try to shove it in all at once.
This is perhaps the most common mistake I have heard people make. The Tempo is big, and it has specific knobs that are designed to regulate its motion. Shoving the whole thing inside will hurt.
Aneros recommends that you insert the tip and let the Tempo do the rest. As long as you are at the right angle, the Tempo will go to work just as soon as the tip goes in. The contractions of your sphincter muscles will allow your ass to welcome it.
The Tempo won’t give you the Super O. But, it will improve the quality of your orgasms. Here’s the difference I noticed:
- My erections were harder
- They also lasted longer
- Blowjobs with the Tempo inside are just heavenly
The Tempo has a flared base, which makes it easy to insert or eject without any difficulty. It also gives you greater control when you are coming.
Again, you have to understand that this is designed for hands-free use. It’s like a kegel exerciser, so let your pelvic floor muscles do the job. There’s no reason to use your hands with the Tempo.
Aneros Tempo vs. The Rest – How Does it Compare?
Here’s how the Aneros Tempo compares with some of the others in Aneros’ lineup.
- Aneros Tempo vs. The Peridise
Length: The Tempo is 3.75 inches compared to the 3.5 of the Peridise. There’s a 4-inch variant too.
Material: The Peridise is made of ABS plastic, whereas the Tempo uses medical-grade steel.
Price: The Peridise costs $19.95, whereas the Tempo costs $69.96
- Aneros Tempo vs. The DeVice
Price: The Tempo retails for $69.95 and so does the DeVice.
Size: The DeVice is bigger at 4.2 inches, whereas the Tempo has an insertable length of 3.5 inches.
Thickness: The upper knob is only 0.58 inches. The DeVice is slightly thicker.
- Aneros Tempo vs. the Progasm
Size: The Tempo is only 3.5 inches compared to 4.4 inches of the Progasm.
Price: The Progasm costs $59.95 and the Tempo retails for $69.95.
Arms: The Tempo is a butt-plug, so no arms.
Should You Buy the Aneros Tempo?
If you have been looking for a suitable butt plug and have been unable to find a decent one, the Aneros Tempo is simply a great choice. I simply love it, as it adds a whole new dimension to sex with my partner, or even when used solo.
